Over the last three days, Turkmen culture has been taking the Russian cities of Moscow and Vladimir by storm.

The official opening ceremony of the Days of Turkmen Culture festival took place in Moscow on Wednesday, and was attended by the heads of the Russian Ministry of Culture and the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Moscow, along with many Russian cultural figures and journalists. Following the ceremony, a concert programme showcased Turkmen musical heritage, featuring performances by soloist of the Palace of Music’s symphonic orchestra, Svetlana H. Annadurdyeva; vocalists Leyli Argirova and Atajan Berdyev; and dance group Lachin.

A host of treasures from the State Museum of the State Cultural Centre of Turkmenistan have been on display at Moscow’s Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art, such as traditional clothing, jewellery, instruments and richly embroidered carpets.

A joint concert showcasing Russian and Turkmen musical prowess will take place tonight in the Golden Ring city of Vladimir.
