Lithuanian artist Žilvinas Kempinas comes to Ikon in Birmingham
DOUBLE O (2008) by Žilvinas Kempinas

27 September 2016

Birmingham’s Ikon Gallery is presenting a solo exhibition of work by New York-based Lithuanian artist Žilvinas Kempinas.

The exhibition features a number of installations, reflecting the artist’s predilection for nontraditional and everyday materials, and both representing and embodying natural phenomena such as light and air flow. Through the installations Kempinas explores the idea and definition of movement.

Kempinas’ new installation, made specifically for the show at Ikon, creates a disorienting environment through the combination of an upside-down video projection of a ride through a forest and a mass of metal rods (tripods) painted white, arranged on the glossy black floor.

The exhibition will run until 27 November 2016 at Ikon Gallery in central Birmingham. More information can be found here.
