Online streaming service Netflix has for the first time bought the rights to a Russian TV series – detective drama Mazhor.

Netflix subscribers will be able to watch Mazhor (with subtitles) from 2017, this time under the name Silver Spoon. The rights were bought from the show’s creator, the Sreda Production Company, which is headed up by Russian actor, musician and producer Alexander Tsekalo. Mr Tsekalo omitted to disclose the value of the deal.

Originally released in 2014, Mazhor centres on Igor Sokolovsky, a reckless son of wealthy parents who is cut off by his father and made to work at a police station.
