The Kremlin has announced that members of the public will soon be able to buy exclusive foods previously the reserve of senior government officials.
According to a statement by presidential press secretary Elena Krylova to Russian newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda, the products will be available to purchase online in the new year, under the brand name “Kremlin Quality”.
If you had caviar and top-quality booze in mind, think again — the shop will have a dairy focus, with “milk, buttermilk, yoghurt and possibly cheese” made with the presidential administration, MPs and their staff in mind “on offer to everyone, not just to officials”. When asked if vodka will be on sale, allowing the public to get a taste of the spirits produced for Soviet leaders at the Moscow Cristall Distillery, Ms Krylova said she thought there was “already enough alcohol out there”. There goes the dream of a Kremlin-fuelled new year party.
These exclusive dairy delights won’t break the bank either, with Ms Krylova assuring listeners of radio station Govorit Moskva that prices will be “no higher than in the supermarkets”.
