This Belarusian band wants you to spend a visa-free Valentine’s Day in Minsk

6 February 2017

Want to give a very special gift this Valentine’s Day? Belarusian pop group J:МОРС can think of no place more romantic than Minsk.

The band propose making 14 February a joint celebration of both love and hassle-free travel, in honour of a presidential decree signed last month allowing citizens of 80 states to travel to Belarus without the need for a visa.

J:МОРС are holding a “Visa-free” concert aimed particularly at couples from those 80 countries soon to be able to travel visa-free to Belarus, advertising the concert in Chinese, Arabic and a range of European languages.

“The visa-free regime is one of the best pieces of news we’ve had in recent times. I have a number of friends from Europe who have wanted to come to our concerts for a long time, but with the visa the ticket cost so much it could have been a concert by the resurrected Louis Armstrong!” said the band’s lead singer, Vladimir Pugach.

Under the new visa-free regime, which comes into force on 12 February, citizens of 80 countries will be able to travel without a visa if entering Belarus through Minsk National Airport.

If you do feel like making quick use of the new rules and buying tickets, J:МОРС will be waiting with a Belarusian-language lovesong for your significant other. Find out more about the concert here.
