23 February will see the launch of OFF — a series of five unique music events by musical collective and record label Roots United, the team behind St Petersburg’s Present Perfect Festival.
OFF will take place throughout 2017 at the Artplay Design Centre in St Petersburg, once the site of a major factory. Each of the five events will have an individual theme and take over a particular section of the former factory, with an impressive lineup of local and international artists providing a musical complement to the industrial setting. Roots United have also commissioned a number of site-specific neon visual installations from across Russia.
Code-named Unlock, next week’s flagship party will be hosted in a huge space measuring over 3,000 square metres, with many of the factory’s original features intact — think vast 20 metre-high windows and a lot of concrete. Two dance floors will host ten artists, with headliners including Dutch acid and dark-disco act Legowelt; the founder of New York-based label L.I.E.S., Ron Morelli; and St Petersburg’s own dark wave star Inga Mauer.
