A number of New East buildings have been shortlisted for World Building of the Year at this year’s World Architecture Festival.

Up for the prize in the Culture category is the Alliance 1892 Cognac Distillery Museum and Warehouse in Chernyakhovsk, located in Russia’s Kaliningrad Province and designed by Moscow-based studio Totement/Paper. In addition, the Nuvi-At Ethno-cultural Centre in the west Siberian town of Beloyarsky, by City-Arch, will contend for the award.

Among those listed in the Transport category are the brand new terminal at Zagreb’s Franjo Tuđman International Airport, by Kincl and Neidhardt Architects and IGH Projects, along with Istanbul-based Tabanlioglu Architects’ work on Astana Railway Station, serving the Kazakh capital.

New East projects also feature in various other competition categories, including Office and Future Design. You can see the full list here.

Winners will be selected in more than 30 categories and announced during the World Architecture Festival, which will take place at Arena Berlin from 15 — 17 November 2017.

Last year the ”Dialogue Centre Upheavals”, forming part of the National Museum in the Polish city of Szczecin, won World Building of the Year.
