Celebrity photographer Jesse Frohman captures Long Island in bloom

An exhibition of night shots of New York’s Long Island by internationally renowned celebrity photographer Jesse Frohman has gone on show in one of Moscow’s newest galleries. In the series of images that make up NIGHT, Frohman used artificial lighting to capture the waves crashing on the beach and the trees in bloom during darkness. The exhibition will run until 29 May at the MSK Eastside Gallery, which opened in Moscow last year with the aim of representing emerging Russian and Caucasian artists.

Frohman is best known for his thoughtful black-and-white photographs of A-list celebrities that include Woody Allen, James Brown, Daniel Day Lewis and Winona Rider. But it is his photographs of beleaguered rock star Kurt Cobain during his final days that catapulted him to fame. The photos are now part of the permanent collection at the MoMA in New York. After graduating in economics, Frohman began work for legendary New York photographer Irving Penn. He has since published his work in Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, Interview, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.
