Moscow fashion label J.Kim premieres lookbook inspired by North Korean uniforms

19 September 2017

The celebrated emerging Moscow-based fashion brand J.Kim has found inspiration for its 2017 Fall/Winter collection lookbook in an unsual place: still life compositions and North Korean uniforms.

The model-less lookbook features photos of minimalist clothing influenced by the simple, everyday looks of North Korean citizens. The scenes, in which the clothes hang on chairs adorned with Korean dishes, are arrange to create light and shade, evoking the scenery usually required for still life drawing practice.

Diverse national heritage has always been J.Kim’s focus – the brand’s founder, Jenia Kim, comes from a family of Korean emigrants from Uzbekistan, and Korean and Uzbek traditional fashions have always been an inspiration for her collections.
