Watch Maria Teriaeva perform her first album live on a rare Buchla Easel

2 January 2018

Electro artist Maria Teriaeva kickstarted her music career by playing guitar for Russia’s hottest indie bands. The release of her first solo album, Focus, finally saw her claim the centre-stage — as well as a unique musical identity.

Teriaeva’s sound centres on a rare electronic instrument: the Buchla Easel. In her latest video release, filmed during a performance at Moscow’s Scriabin House in September, the machine works alongside traditional instruments — the trumpet, the saxophone and the cello — to build multi-layered tracks, combined with surreal, flowing visuals from Ilya Kolesnikov.
