A town in central Russia has unveiled a new monument to the humble Siberian dumpling.

The bronze monument depicts an elderly man tucking into the traditional Russian snack, called a pelmeni. The statue was placed outside the dedicated dumpling museum in the town of Miass on Friday.

Sculptor Yuri Fyodorov fought off fierce competition to design the statue, which bears the words, “A large pelmeni dumpling is a joy for the mouth”.

The monument is the fourth pelmeni-inspired statue to appear in Russia, with similar installations already in place in Izhevsk, Surgut, and the Yamalo-Nenets region in the Russian North.
