The Inversia festival is back and taking over Russia’s Arctic Circle

25 January 2018

Digital art festival Inversia is returning to Russia’s Arctic circle for its second year of audiovisual exploration.

Artists from across Europe will gather in the Russian city of Murmansk for a special programme exploring the region’s delicate balance between darkness and light.

Screenings, VR-installations, workshops and parties will be fused together with work inspired by the region’s unique geography and heritage, challenging the area’s cultural isolation.

Key events include a joint performance by Finnish duo Wimme&Rinne and Khagaudzh — combining ambient music with traditional Sami and Circassian folklore — and a talk by Digital Heritage on their documenting Murmansk's indiginous Pomor culture in a VR museum.

Inversia will take place in Murmansk from 1—3 February. More information and regular updates can be found on the Inversia Facebook page.
