Entries now open for the New East Photo Prize 2018

19 March 2018

Calvert 22 Foundation is calling on upcoming contemporary photographers to enter this year’s New East Photo Prize.

For the past two years, the New East Photo Prize has been breaking down stereotypes by celebrating the very best contemporary photography from eastern Europe, the Balkans, Russia and Central Asia.

Despite the region’s huge diversity and rich heritage, images of eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union are often outdated, hiding the cutting-edge creative output these nations produce. This prize hopes to broaden these perceptions through the medium of photography. It has already had huge success, with its inaugural edition in 2016 receiving more than 1,000 entries from 25 New East countries.

While all shortlisted photographers will have their work featured in an exhibition at Calvert 22 Space in Shoreditch and published by The Calvert Journal and other partner organisations, other prizes include a cash prize, a trip to Georgia, or a unique mentoring opportunity.

Those applying must submit their applications by midnight on Friday 15 June. For more information, click here.
