Katya Mordvinkina

Katya Mordvinkina (b. 1999, Stavropol) is an interdisciplinary artist based in Moscow. She currently studies at HSE Art & Design School. In her practice, Mordvinkina works with language and its main attributes, the word and the gesture. She is particularly interested in the language of authority and its use in political oppression, which she deconstructs in her plays—situations focused on the interaction between the power and its “spectators.” In other projects, Mordvinkina turns to working with fabrics, exploring the etymological and semantic connection between text and textiles and the ability of first one to reduce the image.
