Arseny Zhilayev

Arseny Zhilayev appears as part of V-A-C Foundation’s Future Histories exhibition. The artist explores a faraway future in which humanity has left Earth, turning it into a museum dedicated to the origins of life and civilization. Considering the museum — a repository of the past — from the perspective of the future, Zhilayev turns the question of writing history onto the immediate present. What would be preserved in this museum, and what will be left out? With this Zhilayev underlines the contingency of history and the filtering process that will be inevitable when our own age is viewed from afar.
