The Tribe is a radical portrayal of alienation that sees a new pupil adapt to the criminal demands of life in a boarding school for the deaf which operates a prostitution operation for truckers on the side. Entirely in unsubtitled sign language, it merges silence and violence to raw and surreal effect. There’s high expectation for Slaboshpitsky’s Luxembourg, a film noir he’s currently developing set in Chernobyl’s restriction zone.
