Pavel G. Vesnakov tackles the huge generation gap in today’s Bulgaria in his short Pride, which won the main prize at the prestigious Clermont Ferrand festival in France last year. It sees a retired general and family patriarch with a strict set of beliefs confronted with the news that the boy he has raised is gay. It completes the short film trilogy he started with Trains and The Paraffin Prince, which also delved into the communication barriers between different age groups. Having achieved a high profile on the shorts circuit with this realistic and provocative work, he is now developing his first feature.
