Feud was shot in Crimea, where the Russian photographer Olga Matveeva moved with her then-boyfriend, and captures the intense emotions following a personal break-up and Crimea’s break away from Ukraine. These two narratives co-exist in the form of a diary, a mixture of intimate photos and news screenshots. In the book, the personal tragedy throws light on the political. “Close people share a common bed and those who have a common past suddenly become real enemies,” Mateeva says.
