Set up in the hull of a former glass factory in 2013 by Budapest native Dániel Bárt, Élesztő, which translates as yeast, was a pioneer on the Hungarian craft-beer scene. Élesztő sports an industrial, even steampunk aesthetic, housing a variety of Hungarian craft beers, a beer-based cocktail bar and more. Dániel loves Budapest for “the urban intellectual crowd that makes this city a living, creative hub for arts and nights,” along with the “baths, the illegal pubs and the walks in remote parts of the Buda Hills”. What inspires him? “The feeling that we all squat among the ruins of a bygone civilization, and the secret moments when we believe we can achieve something that is comparable to the Golden Age.”
