Oleg Shapiro is a member of the board of trustees for Strelka Institute of Media, Architecture and Design and the co-founder of the Wowhaus bureau, responsible for the launches of Gorky Park, Pioner cinema and other acclaimed urban projects. He says that progress in Moscow is fuelled by a young educated crowd that anticipated the changes in the city environment – which explains the overwhelming success of Gorky Park. “But it's important that Muscovites consider this improvement their work too – they already like the changes and now they need to work to become a part of them.”
