Cafe Littera

The Writers’ House is a Tbilisi highlight in its own right. This 1912 art nouveau palace on Machabeli Street was a gift to the nation from brandy tycoon Davit Sarajishvili—the Villeroy and Boch patio is identical to the one on the Titanic. Cafe Littera, run by Georgia’s finest chef Tekuna Gachechiladze, is a gift to the nation of a different kind. Most of the seating is in the unbelievably romantic garden of the Writers' House, making this mainly a summer restaurant (in winter Tekuna can be found at nearby Culinarium). Famous for pioneering a fusion-inspired modern Georgian cuisine, Tekuna’s baked mussels, trout tartare and seasonal mushroom dishes are better eaten than described.
