This Lithuanian artist is taking over a tiny Irish island with colourful cartoons sculptures

Lithuanian artist Egle Zvirblyte has set a colourful cast of illustrated sculptures loose on the beaches of rural Ireland.

Ranging from eight to 16-feet tall, the six sculptures have been installed as part of contemporary art biennale Drop Everything on the remote island of Inis Oírr, the smallest of the Aran Islands.

Each sculpture was inspired by the people, folklore and history of the island itself, while still chanelling Zvirblyte’s trademark mix of primary colours, bold shapes and vivid absurdity reign. Many of the cartoon characters can be seen on the beach close to a shipwrecked cargo ship, making off with the bounty of goods inside.
