Debris on a Luminous Plain: the Birmingham exhibition you can’t afford to miss

Blending painting, ceramics, and video, Russian artist Olga Grotova transforms her exhibitions into stages for provocative performance.

Hosted by the Centrala Exhibition Space in Birmingham, Debris on a Luminous Plain is both an art show and a place for exploration, acting as a set for Grotova’s live performances.

The work focuses on three female characters. They are seen carrying out small rituals, which seem to flirt with the supernatural. As the show goes on, the borders between spaces begin to unravel. The show questions the logic we impute to the natural world, as well as the seeming stability of everyday life.

Debris on a Luminous Plain will run from 12 December 2018 to 16 February 2019, with a private view on 7 December. For more information, click here.
