Art Lebedev Studio launches 90s-style mobile phone

19 July 2013

Russia’s leading design outfit Art Lebedev Studio has looked to the Nineties for the design of its new mobile phone, which comes complete with a retractable antenna. The Just5 Brick, on sale now in Russia, Kazakhstan and Latvia, is available in five retro colours: white, yellow, black, red and brown.

The phone was designed as part of the Just5 range of phones, launched in 2008 by Orbita Telecom, a company founded by Russian entrepreneur Mikhail Nikolayev. Just5 phones are designed for people with poor eyesight or hearing problems. Features usually include big buttons, a “talking keypad”, simple dialling options and a long-lasting battery.

Art Lebedev Studio was founded by designer Artemy Lebedev in 1995 and has offices in Moscow, Kiev and New York. The studio’s work includes graphic, web and industrial design.
