CTM Siberia festival kicks off today in Novosibirsk

14 September 2015

The Novosibirsk leg of the CTM Siberia festival begins today, after the opening of the festival this weekend in Krasnoyarsk.

The electronic music and visual arts festival, which is normally held in Berlin, is taking place in Siberia for the first time as a result of a collaboration with the Goethe Institut Novosibirsk and local partners.

Originally focused solely on electronic music, CTM has evolved to cover a wide range of genres under the banner “Festival for Adventurous Music and Related Visual Arts”.

The programme for CTM Siberia features evening concerts and club nights showcasing the projects of local and German artists, as well as those from further afield in Russia, while the daytime programme includes a wide range of workshops and masterclasses on artistic and technological strategies. There is a special focus on unusual combination and collaboration across genres, styles and scenes.

Of particular note in the lineup are Russian acts Love Cult and Mujuice and Vienna-based Electric Indigo, who will each perform a set at a showcase of new club sounds on Friday 18 September.

The Calvert Journal is a partner of CTM Siberia and will take part in the festival, hosting an online journalism masterclass on Friday 18 September.
