The “Literary Tasting” festival of Russian cuisine opens tomorrow in Moscow, bringing a host of literature-themed dishes to restaurants across the Russian capital.

35 restaurants will participate, creating special menus inspired by classic works of Russian literature and using Russian ingredients.

“Guests at Moscow restaurants should feel like they are the heroes of the Russian classics — Chichikov, Oblomov, Dr. Bormental even Gleb Zheglov — when tasting the dishes mentioned by great authors,” said the festival organisers to online magazine Afisha.

2015 has been named the “Year of Literature” in Russia, with hundreds of events to celebrate Russian writers and poets taking place across Russia throughout the year.

The special “Literary Tasting” menus will be available from 2 to 31 October.
