The newest episode of the popular Russian animated series Masha and the Bear has drawn over three million views on Youtube in a 24-hour period.

The record-breaking 55th episode, entitledOh, let’s ride!”, was released on the morning of 23 February and watched by 9.5 million viewers within a two-day period, according to figures released on 25 February. This represents a marked increase on earlier episodes, which on average attract 1.5 million views during the first day of release, according to the press service of Moscow-based studio Animaccord, which produces the show.

This is the latest in a run of record-breaking successes for the series. At the end of 2015, the episode “Masha plus porridge” became the first Russian-language video to reach a billion views on YouTube, while Animation Magazine, a leading US magazine on animation, included Masha and the Bear in a list of 250 TV shows destined to become classics.
