Russian air disaster film Flight Crew is all set for departure to Japan, becoming the first Russian film to be released theatrically there in over a decade.

“I was very impressed with [Flight Crew] quality-wise,” said the CEO of IPA Asia Pacific, Robert Jones, who will oversee the Japanese release, “Russian content is getting better and better, and we feel there will be audience for it in Japan.”

The first Russian film to get a theatrical release in Japan since Timur Bekmambetov’s Night Watch in April 2006, Flight Crew is directed by Russian filmmaker and screenwriter Nikolai Lebedev. Earlier this year the film was applauded by a top Russian official as the only local film to make a profit this year.
