Russian Winnie-the-Pooh reflects on Brexit

27 June 2016

Russia’s version of Winnie-the-Pooh (Vinni-Pukh) has had his own say on Brexit, with a viral meme taking aim at the possible domino effect of the result of the recent UK referendum.

“Hello? Anyone else there? asked Ukraine when it joined the EU in 2030,” reads the meme, which has been tweeted by, among others, BBC Moscow correspondent Steve Rosenberg.

Vinni-Pukh is a 1969 animated film by Soviet animation studio Soyuzmultfilm, directed by Fyodor Khitruk. The film is based on chapter one in the book series by A. A. Milne.
