12 July 2016

It’s Not the Time of My Life by Hungarian director Szabolcs Hajdu took home the top prize at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival this weekend.

Hajdu’s drama film saw off 11 other entries in the category to win the Grand Prix Crystal Globe and a $25,000 cash prize.

The independent low-budget feature centres on the conflicts that arise when long-lost family members are brought together and forced to share an apartment.

Hajdu also received the Best Actor award for his acting role in the film.

A special jury prize of $15,000 was awarded to Russian director Ivan Tverdovsky’s Zoology, which follows the story of a disillusioned middle-aged woman who grows a tail and embarks upon a romance.

Now in its 51st edition, the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival is eastern and central Europe’s leading film festival, held in the spa town of Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic.
