Acclaimed American filmmaker Oliver Stone has begun filming for his movie about Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to numerous reports in the Russian media, Stone will make a full blown documentary about Putin. He has reportedly gained special permission for the project, which he announced two years ago, and is now accompanying the president to a number of events in order to learn more about him.

Russian news site Life.ru noted that the director accompanied Putin to a performance at Moscow’s Et Cetera Theatre in 2015, as well as to this year’s Victory Day parade in the Russian capital.

Oliver Stone is an Oscar-winning American director, screenwriter and producer. He is best known for his work as a screenwriter on such films as Midnight Express (1978, dir.
