Meet the young Romanian opera singer who won over America

16 September 2016

Meet Laura Bretan, the Romanian-born 13-year-old opera singer who won over the USA with her performances on America’s Got Talent.

Laura, who is from Chicago but was born to Romanian parents, won this year’s season of Romania’s Got Talent and decided to give the US version of the show a try.

The young singer shot straight to the live quarterfinals of America’s Got Talent after judge Mel B pressed her Golden Buzzer. She gained huge numbers of votes from the American public to progress to the semi-finals and the finals, performing with Italian trio Il Volo and receiving standing ovations from the judges. Laura just missed out on a place in the top five, but her incredible vocals have made waves on both side of the pond.
