Watch: new Kedr Livanskiy video for Keep Your Word

3 October 2016

Kedr Livanskiy has put out a video for the song Keep Your Word (Otvechai Za Slova). The track is the third single from her debut lo-fi techno EP January Sun, released on US label 2MR in February.

Livanskiy, real name Yana Kedrina, is signed to Moscow underground label Johns’ Kingdom, and described the song to i-D as “the stupidest one on the album” in terms of lyrics.

The video starts out with some synchronised group dancing by the Leningrad Optical Mechanical Association factory in the St Petersburg suburbs and continues to cult rock club Griboedov before moving to a party on a speedboat.

Kedrina says that the video was shot on the money that she made while playing a gig at the same club, and that the capitain of the rented boat was most definitely freaked out by her tying up a naked guy and hitting him with roses on his boat. “[He] must have thought we were shooting a prelude to a porn movie,” she told i-D.
