Delve into memories past with a new exhibition of Julia Borissova’s DIY art books
From Address (2015) by Julia Borissova

12 October 2016

A new exhibition showcasing award-winning art books by Julia Borissova opened yesterday at The Yard Gallery in Exeter.

The Tallin-born, St Petersburg-based artist works across photography, archive material, collage and drawing, and is preoccupied with exploring personal memories, as in Address dedicated to her childhood neighbourhood, or forgotten Russian history like in Running to the Edge, a book centred around the first wave of Russian emigrants in the 1920s.

The exhibition, Beyond the Unseen, will feature all of Borissova’s handmade books to date. On display will also be images from three of her recent publications — Dimitry, DOM (Document Object Model) and Address.

Beyond the Unseen will be on show at The Yard Gallery at Exeter School of Art, Exeter, until 12 November. More information can be found here.
