Rest in peace: British TV to get first Croatian series

The acclaimed Croatian drama series Rest in Peace (Počivali u miru) is set to become the first Croatian television series to air in the UK.

The show will form part of Walter Presents, a section of Channel Four that specialises in foreign-language drama and comedy, after Croatian Radiotelevision signed a deal with Channel Four’s exclusive partner Global Series Network for the rights to the series.

A 12-part series, Rest in Peace sees a young journalist and a retired prison guard investigate crimes from the country’s past, including during the Yugoslav wars and under the former communist regime.

Originally aired in Croatia in 2013, the show has also been picked up in the USA, with Lionsgate buying the remake rights in 2014, marking the first time a Croatian format has sold to a major North American production company.
