British international architecture studio Foster and Partners has begun construction on the skyscraper that is set to be Poland’s tallest building — Varso Tower will rise above Warsaw at 310m tall.

Although the building will mostly house offices, an observation deck 230m up will offer spectacular views of the Polish capital, while lower floors will become home to shops and restaurants.

The tower forms part of the wider Varso project, a major development by international real estate developer HB Reavis that aims to give new life to one of Warsaw’s most central brownfield sites.

“We believe that Varso Tower will have a unique place on Warsaw’s skyline, but most importantly it will establish a new destination capable of revitalising this urban quarter, right in the heart of the city,” Grant Brooker, head of studio at Foster and Partners, told Designboom.

Varso Tower is set for completion in 2020.
