Kino Klassika Revolution 2017 film season opens this week in London

Kino Klassika Foundation’s A World to Win: A Century of Revolution on Screen season opens on Friday in London with Sergei Eisenstein’s 1925 classic Battleship Potemkin.

The screening forms part of Kino Klassika’s major film season exploring the revolutionary impulse, hosted in partnership with London’s Regent Street Cinema to mark the centenary of the Russian Revolution. In addition to well known cinematic masterpieces, the season will also present rare screenings, including Larisa Shepitko and Andrei Smirnov’s banned film Beginning of an Unknown Century (1967).

The programme is complemented by a series of curated talks, workshops and Q&As, with the season finding its climax in a landmark screening of October: Ten Days that Shook the World (1928, dir. Sergei Eisenstein, Grigori Aleksandrov) accompanied by the London Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican Centre on 26 October.
