New East rising stars are among the emerging fashion designers from 26 countries taking part in London’s International Fashion Showcase 2017, opening this Friday.

Taking place from 17 — 21 February at Somerset House as part of London Fashion Week’s public-facing programme, this year’s International Fashion Showcase will feature designers from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia, Ukraine, Poland and Romania.

Presented by the British Council, British Fashion Council and Mercedes-Benz, the series of installations in Somerset House’s West Wing will explore the theme of “Local/Global”. Each country’s installation will explore a particular facet of this broad title, with themes for individual installations including “Waste Not” (Poland), “Standpoint” (Romania) and “Memory” (Slovakia).

In addition, sponsor Mercedes-Benz will further showcase five selected designers from its International Designer Exchange Programme, including young Ukrainian designer Anna K.
