Imagine Moscow: London exhibition explores the city that could have been

8 March 2017

Opening next week, Imagine Moscow at London’s Design Museum offers an opportunity to venture into an unrealised vision of the Soviet capital, built on the ideals of the 1920s and 30s.

The exhibition focuses on six unrealised buildings, including Ivan Leonidov’s Lenin Institute and Boris Iofan’s Palace of the Soviets. Architectural drawings are complemented by an array of rarely seen artwork, propaganda and publications from the period.

Each of the six projects introduces a topic pertinent to life, culture and ideology in the Soviet Union: collectivisation, urban planning, aviation, communication, industrialisation, communal living and recreation.

Imagine Moscow will run from 15 March — 4 June 2017 at the Design Museum in London’s Kensington. You can find out more and purchase tickets here.
