Design magazine Dezeen has listed design weeks in Bucharest and Bratislava among the top eight “best design weeks that are off the beaten track”.

Romanian Design Week 2017 is taking place from 20 — 28 May in Bucharest. Now in its fifth edition, Romanian Design Week will bring together 150 projects from over 100 designers, design and architecture studios at a number of venues throughout the city. The initiative of The Institute — a Bucharest-based organisation that aims to build strong infrastructure for developing creative industries — Romanian Design Week will this year launch the Creative Quarter. This project sees the historic Universul Palace become something of a creative hub, housing an art gallery, design shop, theatre and bars, among others.

Bratislava Design Week will be spread across three venues in the Slovak capital, including Erdödy Palace, from 7 — 11 June. As well as showcasing the best of local design talent, the week will also feature a number of exciting international projects, including a special installation by Dutch designer Sander Wassink.
