This Kazakh grandmother probably raps better than you

5 July 2017

78-year-old Kazakh grandmother Mariam Amrayeva had endured years of her grandson Dilshod Ibragimov’s rapping before she put forward a challenge: if you can do it, so can I.

Humouring his grandmother, Dilshod (known as ATL4NT) gave her a short rap section to try and soon realised that she had a surprising knack for this musical genre. Now the pair have shot to internet fame, with Dilshod’s fans ever enquiring about the next track from his rather more mature sidekick.

From money to chickens, effortlessly cool Mariam raps about all things village life. The pair are now working on an album, so watch this space. For now, follow the dynamic duo on Instagram.
