Popular American travel magazine Travel + Leisure has listed the island of Hvar (together with the other Dalmatian islands), Croatia, as one of the world’s top ten islands.

Based on the results of a reader survey, Hvar came in ninth place, just behind Ischia (Italy) and ahead of Bali (Indonesia). The top spot was claimed by Palawan in the Philippines. Readers rated islands according to the activities and sights on offer, beaches and nature, cuisine, friendliness, and overall value for money.

In recent years Hvar has become known as a party hotspot, attracting some of the world’s biggest celebrities.
