While it may seem that having a less than flattering ID or passport photo is pretty much inescapable, innovative St Petersburg-based photo studio FaceDoc wants to put an end to your embarrassment at the immigration counter.

FaceDoc offers photo sessions complete with studio lighting and, most importantly, professional retouching. Whereas photobooths often give you a measly number of tries, studio founder Alexander Zadorozhny told local magazine Paper that between 15 — 50 shots are taken at an average FaceDoc passport session.

“I fight for documents with beautiful photos that will please their owners,” Mr Zadorozhny told Paper, adding that he would also lobby for permission to smile in passport photos.

While we cannot vouch for the legality of having your passport photo retouched, it might be nice to cross borders with pride for once.
