This Polish PlayStation VR project transports you to Chernobyl

18 August 2017

Polish video game developer The Farm 51 is preparing to release a VR tour of the Chernobyl exclusion zone for PlayStation.

The Chernobyl VR Project was created through a combination of multiple 360-degree films, panoramas, 3D scanning of locations and buildings, 360-degree photography and stereoscopic videos, captured around Chernobyl and the abandoned town of Pripyat.

Among the locations featured in the VR project will be the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, Duga radar station, amusement park, Lazurny swimming pool, elementary school No. 3, along with hospitals and houses.

The survey of the area and abandoned buildings was largely conducted last year, the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster.

The Chernobyl VR Project by The Farm 51 will soon be available on PlayStation VR.

Last month American television network HBO, home of hit fantasy series Game of Thrones, announced a new mini-series on the Chernobyl nuclear disaster starring Mad Men actor Jared Harris.
