Tbilisi Photo Festival 2017: who, what, where and when

8 September 2017

The eighth edition of the Tbilisi Photo Festival will begin on 13 September, showcasing the works of over 350 photographers from around the globe.

The festival, themed around fashion photograpy this year, will explore “the connections between fashion, the tradition of identity representation, ideology and the photographic image”. The exhibitions will feature work from renowned photographers Guy Bourdain of France and Viviane Sassen of the Netherlands, as well as work from Thomas Dworzak, Patrick Remy and Christopher Pinney. Aiming to promote and showcase the best local and regional talent, the festival also provides a central meeting point for photographers from Iran, Turkey, Europe and the Middle East.

This year, the festival will include several exhibits exploring fashion from India, as well as Q&As with photographers, live screenings and a Night of Photography — an evening exhibition on 16 September with eight large media screens set up at creative space Fabrika.

Tbilisi Photo Festival was founded in 2010 by Georgian photographer and journalist Nestan Nijaradze and French photographer Lionel Charrier — the current photo Editor-in-chief at the French daily newspaper Liberation.

The festival will run until 20 September.
