Skate through Kiev central station with the new Apple Watch ad

14 September 2017

Anyone who has spent time in the Ukrainian capital might find themselves experiencing a touch of déjà vu when watching the ad for the new Apple Watch Series 3.

The commercial for Apple’s latest piece of wearable technology was filmed at Kiev’s Central Railway Station and Zoloti Vorota (Golden Gates) metro station. At the beginning of the advert, viewers can even hear an announcement being made in Ukrainian.

Apple’s Ukraine-based ad sees a man — equipped with an Apple Watch Series 3, of course — skateboarding skillfully around the distinctive main hall and waiting rooms of Kiev’s Central Railway Station, as well as among commuters along the concourse at Zoloti Vorota. At one point, everyone in the station seems to break out into acrobatics — perhaps don’t try this yourself before boarding a train to Odessa or Lviv.

This is far from the first time Kiev has served as a backdrop for global brands — Italian clothes brand Diesel filmed its most recent advert on the city’s famously unfinished Podilsko-Voskresensky Bridge.
