Slovenian artist Jasmina Cibic is set to premiere her latest film trilogy at Newcastle’s Baltic Centre of Contemporary Art.

Her forthcoming solo exhibition, This Machine Builds Nations, explores the complex entanglement of gender, statehood, and the sponsorship of art and architecture.

It includes a special performative installation — Show the Land in Which a Wide Space for National Progress is Ensured — and screenings of her latest three-part film series, NADA, or Hope in Croatian. Focusing on three of Europe’s leading modernist architects, each film examines the idea of soft power: using culture to communicate aspirations, principles and ideas.

This Machine Builds Nations is running at Newcastle’s Baltic Centre of Contemporary Art between 9 February and 28 May. For more details, click here.
