Germany’s latest music festival is launching in a Cold War bunker

23 January 2018

Hidden deep in the forests north of Berlin, Bunker 5001 was built to protect East Germany’s top commanders during a nuclear strike.

Officially closed in 1993, the restored complex is now hosting Berlin’s latest techno and ambient event, the 5001 Festival.

Special stages will be erected in the bunker’s Soviet-era barracks and surrounding woods, complete with onsite camping. Artists already set to perform include Antigone, Shlømo, Rachel Lyn, and François X.

5001 festival will take place between 17—19 August 2018. For more information, click here.
