Polish Borderlands: Cafébabel launches new open call for journalists

15 February 2018

European news outlet Cafébabel is looking for journalists to work on a special series chronicling the lives of young people living close to the Polish border.

The Borderline project will celebrate 100 years of Polish independence with in depth features designed to instil a fresh outlook on the country.

16 journalists and photojournalists will receive a €1000 bursary to travel to one of eight cities on the Polish border, including Słubice, Gubin (Guben), Zgorcelec (Görlitz), Szczecin, Gdańsk, Białystok, Lublin and Katowice.

All applicants are expected to have prior experience reporting on the country and be available to carry out the trip between May and June 2018.

“Borderline aims to tell extraordinary stories about Polish youth that strays from the typical media coverage about the country,” says Cafébabel. “The project will deal extensively with a part of Poland that is often rendered invisible, with its people, its initiatives, its creativity and its activism.”

The application deadline is 19 February 2018. For more information, click here.
