27 February 2018

One of the leading photographers in Ukraine’s new wave has died at the age of 35.

Photographer Armen Parsadanov passed away last week following a period of illness.

Born in Baku, Parsadanov began living and working in Kiev in 2013. His work featured in Ukrainian Vogue and Vogue, as well as L’Officel UA, i-D, Dazed & Confused and Fisheye Magazine.

He also worked with The Calvert Journal on several occasions, most recently showing work from his series Nutshell at the Calvert 22 Foundation’s Post-Soviet Visions exhibition. Parsadanov uses the series to paint a portrait of Kiev’s contemporary creative scene, cutting through the myths and misconceptions of the city created by the media after the 2014 revolution.
